Hey,

Got pointed over here by Wayne on the CGTalk forums. Im new to mudbox so just wanted to say hi and does anyone have any tips for a guy starting out sculpting :). I do all of my work in max but im coming from the game modeling world, hopfully to start sculpting some nice stuff :)../

Try your hardest to make the mesh be all quads. Make sure your UVs are clean (coming from games I doubt you will have trouble with that). Make the most of your subdivision level BEFORE subdividing to a higher count. So by that I mean dont just open a mesh, subdivide it to the 5th subdivision level and start sculpting. You will come out with far superior results if you do everything you can do to one subdivision level and absolutely need more verts to move around, before going to the next subdivision level. This will also force you to first consider forms, and later be concerned with details.

Righto ill definatly start with low subs first as its the second time ive been told that. What do you mean by quads ?

It's a polygon with 4 side it's as simple as that.....
