The nvidia 8800 and 9800 cards seem to work OK as long as the drivers are up to date. Try to get one with a gig of RAM, more ram the better.

thanks for the tip. After looking at 9800 cards I found three that looked like they might be good. If there isn't a big difference between the three I would tend toware the cheapest one, but if someone knows one that stands out (better or worse than the others) would love to hear about it .
BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GT OC 1GB GDDR3 .....$189.99 (Best Buy)
BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 9800 GTX+ OC 1GB GDDR3 .....$249.99 (Best Buy)
BFG - NVIDIA GeForce 260 GTX OC 896MB GDDR3 .....$279.99 (Best Buy)

If you are on limited budget the 9800Gt works fine. You get what you pay for. I use it but the gtx is faster. Dont know about the 260, you might be able to get a 280 for under $400. maybe someone else can help with those. still of the opinion that more ram the better but I dont want to give you a bum steer.
i would go for a gtx 285er with 2gig of ram...
