Excellent work, love the whole concept and you have given the character some character. Great stuff. You can add a thumbnail by tacking on a small image at the end of your post

nice lookin stuff, the renders are nice, great render too from mudbox. and not to drag this thread off into another direction, but are those mental ray renders done with the linear workflow setup?

wich one ?

i've been reading up a lot lately on linear workflow with maya and mental ray and have realized that a lot my renderings have been quite wrong from a technical standpoint. are all of these mudbox screen grabs? I know you've done a bunch of gnomonology tutorials with lighting and rendering which is why I was asking... I was wondering if you are using a linear workflow with using physically accurate lights, gamma corrected textures and tone mapping.

hehehe who care as long as they look good ... and trust me on that .. your stuff look really good :-)
are all of these mudbox screen grabs?
only the last two one are mudbox screen grab .. then the 3 color variation are mental ray .. and teh first bule and gray ones are zbrush screen shot
about the rendering stuff ..
yes i did a video about how to render a car where i did use sky light and gamma correction .
but somehow at the end of the day i do multipass rendering and heavilly composit my shit :-)
i prefer to just use what look pleasant to my eyes .. my video are more about making a nice picture then to learn about the phisicaly correct process behind the science of lighting :-)
looking forward to your rendering of your winged monster ;D

here another texture texture test as i was converting the head from zbrush ..
would still have to do a more serious texture later ..
but need to do more sculping on it first
as always ..
no rendering .
mudbox real time screen shot .. and post process in photoshop
starting to get very tired of all the shortcoming of mud ..and feel more and more like throwing the towel…
or may be it;s just me .... :-(

Huge lips man. You can really see he is slavic :)

what holding me back ?
the quirkiness from mudbox ..
- not always able to reconstruct my uv .
- displacement/normals generation play crazy
-slower viewport with multi object loaded
- very basic tools for painting ( altough i can live with that 0
decided to do a mental ray run.. to make sure that i would be able to render the high res before moving back to more serious texturing
here the result for now .. mostly displacement at rendertime

cool updates, facial expressions are coming along nicely. the eyes are a bit too blue for me, i think they're standing out a bit too much.

Those poses, were they rigged or sculpted?
I like it a lot overall. Because the cloth is stretched on the larger muscles, perhaps a tad of smoothing (wrinkle smoothing) is needed on the chest to abs area.
Grrrrrrr

This looks awesome. As others already said. his eyes are a bit weird.
