I'm just wondering how the import UV's function handles things.i take a base mesh with no UV's from Max to Mud.Sculpt my details.Export the level Zero mesh to Max.UV the mesh.Export from Max and import UV's back to the original mesh at level Zero in Mud.The UV's are fine.No overlapping/inverted faces and space around the edges and between UV chunks.
The UV's look fine in Mud in UV view but as soon as i start to paint in behaves erratically.
Cheers.

Perhaps it would be good to have some UV's on the base mesh. Then do the layout after detailing.

I'm now getting this popup warning:
" This mesh has multiple UV tiles (shown in different colors). To maximize performance, Mudbox allows you to manage which tiles are in memory. To load a tile for painting (or to unload it), hold the cursor over the tile and press Up arrow"
This is strange as the UV's are all laid out in 1,0 space in Max?

chances are a few of the points are outside or too close to the edges of 0,1 uv space. Give about 4 px around the borders and each island and you shouldn't have a problem.

Yeah, i thought that might be the problem so i scaled the UV's in Max down to half the size to test if this was the case but ,alas,no joy. There is a huge amount of free space all round the border of 0,1 tile.
Why is it giving the warning if pasted in the post above from Mud? My UV's are in 1 tile at 0,1.It's very strange.

Maybe your vertex ID's got botched on the import/export from Max and it's causing an odd reaction?
Really just blindly throwing darts here :)
