One of those places that I struggle with more than others, so I decided to do a study so I could work out some of the problems, which are basically not really understanding how the muscles attach and flow. I'm gonna keep at this and do a series of poses with the wrist turning the foreArm to its extremes so I can really get in there and study what is happen when you rotate your wrist. Would love to get some crits, maybe some good rules of thumb people follow when laying out the masses in this area, hey that would make a great vid tutorial!! Think I'll add uv's and go in and outline in the muscle groups/flow to justify where things are going, that would help some I'm sure.

...and the award for the 1st peice of user art posted here goes to.... :)

One thing I found helped with anatomy (and still does) is to draw your msucle groups over your mesh. Its often easier that way to spot where is 'wrong' or off than sculpting it in. Plus its faster as you can then compare with existing refs. Once you ahve your muscle anatomy drawn out roughly with a few lines and you are satisfied its correct you canthen sculpt away and eventually ditch that texture for a proper one if needed.

I used to have a major problem the uper leg and I found it worked great as a way to solve it. Give it a go and let me know if it helps.:) Your on the right lines with your arm study.

I know what you mean about forearms. I could use some practice on those as well. I lack the understanding of the inner forearm/elbow area. Good idea. I should follow suit. I think your arm here looks pretty good. The hand is what i find needs the most work. But that wasn't your focus so...

Yeah that hand is just there to let the foreArm flow into, I started to go in and sculpt out the palm but didnt really paymuch attention to the rest. Yeah the foreArms are complicated in how the muscles react and flex from Ulna rotation and I have never really understood what was going on under the hood. Got my trusty freedomOfTeach anatomy guy on my desk now, so gonna cross ref that against some actual anatomy pics and try to start making sense of it all, Im also working on wrapping my head around Maya's new Muscle tool, maybe it woudl be good to set up an accurate foreArm and get that working as well.
