Any help? :(

Are you refering to teh real time or AO baking feature?
If its the real time remember that it reacts to the subD level that you are on. If its the baking remember it will bake your Ambient Occ map only to the active level on the model / models at that time. So if your model has 6 levels and you are on level 3 it will bake a ao map for level 3.

Ahh... ok. Now I understand. But this image is from new files. See next:
(*) Open Mudbox;
(*) Insert a reptile models;
(*) No subdivision, nothing!;
(*) I switch ON the AO realtime filter;
(*) Boom! This strange UI.
Do you you this strange behaviour?

Th emore detail that the mesh has the better the effect.I found this through experimentation.So as my model increased in levels and detailing my AO looked alot better.So the mesh from your image has no detail at all so therefore there is nothing really to occlude.

I see this mudbox behavior for high res mesh.
And see the next image. The AO is a bit strong, i know, but you can the something like a "ghost AO" effect. It's normal?

I've had to go up to about 6 mill before it starts to look decent >:( Still havn't been able to get it perfect and the ghosting artifacts i've never fully gotten rid of.

Remember that the real time Ao is just that, a real time approximation of ambient occlusion to help with sculpting and visualising the details. Its not meant to give an A1 perfect AO effect as this would have a massive impact on memory. For full quality AO then bake out an AO map from the menu. I'd recommend pging through the vids on the main part of the site especially the ones on Ambient Oclsuion.
