hi everyone

i made a model in maya exported as a OBJ file no problems there

then import it to mudbox and subdivide level 1 still no problems
but when i go to level 2 program gives me "an unknown error has occurred while performing the operation.we are sorry for inconvenience"

well i tried check everything i can in model

face normals ,transformations ,checked the vertices if they were merged correctly, deleted couple of edge loops , check on other computers with diffrent specs , i even did a fresh copy of windows still no luck

well also there is this i can open it Zbrush without any problems

u can find the file below plz tell me if u can find any solutions

cheers

Hey,

I looked at your face geo and found 2 issues with it. (this is what will cause mudbox to crash or give errors) Picture 1 (inside the mouth area), the 4 faces highlighted in the image with extra faces merged directly on top of it. To fix, simply select each of the 4 faces once and delete, and you will notice that there are faces still there. Make sure the the surrounding verts in attached to those faces are merged properly. Second, you have some 5 sided poly in the face. Technically the 5 sided polys arent an issue, but the problem is mudbox, or any other app, will quadulate it any way it wants to and can potentially eff up your vert order later, if your going to leave areas like that un-clean, its better to just triangulate it so there is no guess work for programs that will be dividing your mesh.

No problem. Mudbox doing this is actually a great way to tell if your mesh is going to be clean enough for production. In the future, looking at the image below. Run cleanup on the mesh with the following options one at a time. It will generally pick out your problems.
