Looks a little fmiliar eh? It was a one done i a simialr style as another of my busts after a few request form users for me to add something similar to the upcoming mudbox book 'Mudbox for Creative Artists'. This isn't the main project but rather something that will be a shorter throw away warmup one for the book and included on the books DVD along with the Video for the main project (the design for that is still very hush hush).

The from switching on my Judas Priest 80's heavy metal mp3 playlist to final render was 1 hour and 27 mins. A bit slower than last time but with baby emily sleep is aat a premium right now lol. Another short session will be done as 'tidy up' for the book to refine things a bit but you get the idea. Incidentally I've found that of all music Judas Preists screaming for vengance album seems to help output a better quality of model lol.

Love the new model.

Personally I prefer the first render quite a bit. Feels a lot more natural.

Priest fan here too although I'm listening to Queensryche at the mo :D

Cant wait for the book!!

also I know your busy but can I nudge you into upping the next wave of ground up pleeeeaaaaaaaase :)

Take some time off work in a few weeks to do some 3D training and that is on my list of things to do.

I'd have to agree.i personally prefer the 1st render.2nd one seems a bit blown out.The cheekbone area looks rather cool.I think the capsule shaped detail in the centre of the chest dosn't really fit in though.it looks kinda out of place on this guy.

i'm really, really looking forward to your book mate. :) Should be a bestseller.

Agree with the others on the first render, something about it... definitely dig the sculpt though... creepy in an odd way hehe.

The neck area is to glossy and waxy. Nice sculpt otherwise.

Probably as it has no spec map whatsoever ;)

There is no spec map on the model whatsoever. Therefore, the specular highlights are hitting the model based on the position of the lightsource and the strength/falloff of the shader.

I got to learn more about textures ;(.
But it is still a tad blobby. And that would still be blobby with a specular map.
