Hello everyone,
This is my first post here, so I would like to use these first few lines to emphasize how much this kind of community is inspiring, and to wish you all the best in your work and future growth.
So anyhow, here's a character I've been working on (base mesh in Maya, sculpted in Mudbox):

He's a part of a scene which is based on a drawing I made a couple of month's ago.
Here's the old sketch just so you know what to expect from my further posts:

Everything in the scene is pretty much ready for texture work, (except the cat- never done quadrupeds, so he is gonna be something new for me:p) so you can expect some updates soon.
All C & C are welcome.
Cheers

Every comment, suggestion or (even better) idea will be more than appreciated.
I'm doing this exclusively for my own pleasure so I'll have time to consider even the most meticulous suggestions.
Cheers!

Cool art style. I think I recognize the painting from somewhere...
Wonder where?
Is she supposed to look old?
Lips are gentle and nice. A bit weird from side view. a tad long under lip.

Hey Hulahuga!
Thanks for the input, concerning the painting, it's actually a drawing (a doodle more less :p) I made some time ago. I doubt that you've seen it before, but there were a couple of people that said it reminded them somehow of "the Little Prince". I guess it has some kind of a dreamy connection to the above mentioned.
Now, my intention wasn't to make her look old, and I must admit that I don't have that impression, so I'll need you're help with it.
What precisely do you think makes her look old?
Thanks in advance.
Cheers!

I like it...very different scene and not the usual subject matter.
Wayne...
It looks nice.. I don't think she looks old or anything. Her nose seem a bit weird.. the line is too sharp (from nose to cheek).
Anyway.. keep it up. :D

Hey guys!
Thanks, I'm really glad you like it!
Concerning the nose, you're absolutely right, I went a bit crazy with the pinch there.
Thanks for the input, it will be sorted out.
Cheers

Hey Musashidan!
Thanks for the support.
Concerning the drawing, a couple of people expressed their regrets that I've chose a slightly different stile then the one in the drawing. I must admit I still have doubts and it is a one of my favorite drawings, but I console myself with the fact that it is a different media, therefore it deserves a different approach. I guess I'll just wait and see, if it won't do it for me, I'll just change the outcome. I am my own boss on this one, so I'll have the time.
Cheers

Sorry Hulahuga, I totally misunderstood you.
Well, that's a minus that comes with the keyboard communication.
Anyhow, I haven't posted anything in a while now, I've been a bit busy.
Here's something that you can't really call an update.
I've received an order from a local event organization, they've asked me to design a flier
for a summer carnival, people mask themselves and go bananas all around the city for no apparent reason. Since these characters have some sort of masquerade kick to them, I've suggested them for the flier, and people liked the idea. So I've done a quick sculpt and paint on the girl, it's just for the flier, I probably won't use it in the above scene.

I believe that you can picture where the text would go. Concerning the background I can't leave it at black, I thought maybe to put some patchwork texture that would fade to black as it gets close to the frame, I'll need to try it out. Any ideas on that behalf? Every suggestion will be appreciated.
Cheers!

Well no harm done at all ;).
Depends on the theme of the carnival but perhaps flowers or serpentines or something?
