Hi,
I'm working with real world measurements in maya, but I think you're supposed to size up the model when going into mudbox, may I ask if this is correct and why?
thanks.
LOVING the paint stuff.

Mudbox is optimised for models fitting to its internal scale. Use the correct scale and brushes feel great, viewport filters look great etc...but use a model thats too small or too large and its a road to badness.

Thanks Wayne, I thought the brush sizes went from one extreme to another, will re-size to the starter models of mudbox.

And what is Mudbox's internal scale?
I mean, what's the equivalent of a 1 meter, so we know how much to scale our models, that is...

And if we scale our models in Mudbox, does that affect the baked displacement map, if we apply that to our original (pre-scaled) model?

And do we have to export the level 0 base mesh, then scale it down in our 3D app of choice to its original size, as it was before imported in Mudbox and scaled?
That may be a problem if our original base mesh have already been rigged and/or have morph maps applied, or shaders/textures based on real world scales...

Sorry if these questions have been answered elsewhere...
Thanks,

32 bit displacement is baked to scale so if you model is resized you need to adjust accordingly. There alot on this in the quickstart vids on displacement ..in fact I'd recommend watching all those as there are info in each one that is useful across the board.

So if your rigged model is one tenth the size of your mud model, then you would iput 0.1 instead of 1. :)

Haven't seen those yet... :)

I did some tests and scaling up the model before importing in Mudbox and scaling down after exporting, is not a problem either for morphs or for the rigging, as long as the scale up/down factor is kept relevant...
And i will keep in mind that scale factor for the displacement value, as well...

All in all, you suggest that is a better approach to scale the model for Mudbox's scale, yes ?
Beause, i didn't see any problems when scultping on a very small sized model in Mudbox; everything -brushes, stamps etc- where scaled to model's proportions quite normal...

Anywhay, thanks for the help and i'm off to see those videos....:)
