Our First Ever Top Row

User images:

Alien by Peter Zopp
Prince of Egypt by PascalR
HammerHead by KTaylor
The Spiker Mark 2 by Wayne Robson (Me...well I think I deserve a small reward lol)

OK I finally rounded up the images for the 1st ever top row. I've a feeling that they are going to get better over time. ;) I wonder what top row will look like this time next year?

God I just realised how that reads!! LOL (Which is sort of a cardinal sin for a professional writer lol.)

What I meant of course is that as we all use mudbox for longer and longer the quality of artwork wil increase in proportion with our gained experience and that of the user base. Incidentally I did a sort of acid test with my parents and brother today and got their initial reactions to the forumand the images on top row.... lets just say they went down well. Although none are digtial artists they do know good stuff (and bad stuff) when they see it. There favorite one out of the 4 top row images was interesting. My father loved yours, my mother loved the Hammerhead and my brother loved Peter's Alien dude.

I also showed the site to a mate of mine who works as lead imagineer for nvidia and as such seen more high end 3D digital art than most of us see in a lifetime. Went down well with him.. So if we can keep the quality of the artwork high I think this forum may be onto a winner and form into a good community once it opens 'officially'.

So in my attempt to not sound cliched and say 'this is only the beginning' and 'the best is yet to come' I ended up insulting everyone lol. I think that counts as a serious case of foot in mouth syndrome. ;) Hope that clears up my cock up phrasing.

Yeah I hear you, when I was doing beta for Zbrush 2, those first couple sculpts started coming in and I was like wow!! you can finally sculpt finally in 3d, and they were so badass, now its funny how basic they were to what you see people doing now, I always think, man what if I saw what people are doing now in digital sculpting 4 years ago, I probably wouldnt have believed it and said "thats a pic of a real sculpt man!" As a traditional sculptor its been an amazing evolution to watch happen.

I was thinking about it the other day and I realized one of the things I really miss is shaping clay with my hands, that was kinda part of telling if something felt right or not, now its all just the eyes and a wacom pen, kinda wierd.
