Here are a couple quick character concept sculpts Ive been doing in my down time...
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/4503/facetnp.jpg
If I was going to pursue this character I think I would definitely want to continue with the wrinkles, maybe bring more onto the other side of his face, down to his chin, and up to his brow.
http://img136.imageshack.us/img136/5817/lizardman.jpg
I'm still playing around with this guy. His sternomastoid is slightly curved, which I need to correct. His neck, forehead, and back of his head still need a little attention.
http://img148.imageshack.us/img148/6112/robob.jpg
With this one, I wanted to play around with a hard surface/organic look. I wasn't exactly sure what to do with the side of his head, I originally sculpted what I sketched but it just didn't work. I'm not sure what I have now is working either.. what do you think?
http://img523.imageshack.us/img523/5074/monsterhead.jpg
This guy was also a bit of a mix between hard surface and organic, and by this time I still hadn't quite figured out what was what.
Thanks for viewing!!

Someone had commented that there wasn't enough of a separation between the hard surface bits and the organic bits so I added a few lines and edges to separate the two a touch more.I decided to add some texture to this guy just for sh#@s and giggles, but it still didn't look quite right.
http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/2473/monsterhead002.jpg
Someone else had mentioned that he needed eyes, so I added some eyelids. I also wanted to make him look a little less healthy so I added some splotcy-ness and some discoloration.

There's a lot of promiss n these designs, the first one defiantly. With the second what I'd personally do would be to have a sort of cylindrical plug coming out of the side of the head and a number of tubes and wires coming from this.
To take these further its the hard slog of anatomic refinement and tweaks. But the major forms are there for teh most part. :)

I like that last one! I can picture him opening us mouth and all them strings getting all stretched out. I also picture all those bumps throbbing and pulsing with sickness. He reminds me of the soldiers from Planet Terror.

these last 2 are tight. good style proportions work. i like how your doing a sketch then sculpting a quick version. you should keep pushing that. keep your drawing and sculpting equal. thats massive skill if you can do that.
great sketches... i like your style...
like to see more...!

Really diggin the metal face guy. I like how the diffuse is going on the last iteration of him too. Kinda rigor mortis zombie looking flesh tones. Not sure if it's intentional, but also how it seems in some areas near the plate there's some underlying bruising colors.
keep 'em comin.

Thanks Guys (and Gals),
I appreciate all your comments and feedback.
Hulahuga: No I don't use curves. Ive played around with curves just a little bit, and they seem to work best with hardsurface type stuff.

I was just trying to think of something different i could do to a human head, so I decided to expose some brains.

Another lizard type character, with an elongated head. I personally like this dude a little better than the other. He kind of reminds me of that star wars character, General Akbar. lol

This guy was another super quick little sketch, just trying to get some different forms and proportions. I call him "Fish Face"
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/3269/bodyblock.jpg
Here's a quick body I did, something I can use as a default or a good starting point.

I started this guy weeks ago and never came back to him to finish up.. I spent an hour on him today adding the facial detail and the suit.

Really like your forms mate - im not really an anatomy person so i dont know if its 'right' etc but I like the shapes ;)

The suit turned out really nice man! :).
The male body has good proportions, but the extreme use of the flatten brush might make things hard when you want to take it further...
You keep on getting better :)

Did this guy really quick today, I was a bit board. lol.. hes only 128,000 polys and I took about 1.5 hrs. After I did the face, I was still looking to kill some time so I decided to make him a zombie.

Very nice work on all your models! I love the lumpy one on the first page! Kinda reminded me of Nemsis from Resident Evil.
When you put armor or clothing on, do you make another shape and scale it over top? Or do you add onto the body and form the armor or clothing?
Lohramus

Thank you kindly MrCpaw, In an attempt to keep these sketches as simple as possible, Ive only been adding to the basic geometry I start with. Now if I ever decided to take the model further and wanted to say... texture, shade, or even animate it, I would want to split it up in to seperate objects and materials, as well as give it proper edgeflow.

You've got some nice busts and designs coming along here. I'd advise to pick one or two when you've done a few and refine them and take them to final.

Hey bud, yeah has been a while. Im in huntsville AL working for a company called SAIC, they have a studio here which does AA3 stuff, simulation and apps. Mostly Low res game character stuff in Unreal Engine 3. How about you bud, how have you been? Sculpting a lot on your free time i see, it is awesome that you are.

I like that last one..plenty of pesonality. Maybe some more interest on the brow would give it an extra zing, (unless our planning on some busy hair eyebrows of course. )

That's fantastic! I dunno about how 'dirty' that texture is, it's very believable. I especially like that little cut in the back of his head, that tiny little skin imperfection tells a little story about how he probably cut his head shaving or something, makes him seem more human.
If you don't mind me asking, how did you texture this guy in mudbox? High-res photos of human skin used as a stencil? I'm very newb, trying to learn the processes.
