Its probably been the worst kept secret in 3d, but wave 1 is now available in an updated form for sale as a DVD and direct download. Mudbox Hub is now a publisher and in a co-publishing deal with 3d palace will be making a number of DVD's available direct from here on Mudbox Hub. 3D Palace were picked for the sale side as they have without a doubt the most secure server in 3d tutorial sales and the infrastructure to get out all sales fast. But we remain in total control of output and creative direction for all releases.
This DVD has 2 functions, firstly to help to financially support the massive cash black hole that the hub currently is to keep it alive, and secondly so I don't starve. (I'm not joking here!) This version of wave one has 2 new sections to bring it up to SP 2 feature wise and is in 1280 res so that you get the best picture quality that we can provide.
This release also lets us get some feedback on things to improve for wave 2 and 3. This will then create the Mudbox Tsunami set (I bet you had wondered why I called them 'waves'? ;) )
Wave 1 will still be available on TheArea for free for those who can't afford to buy or are cheapskates lol. But for the many of you who asked , pleaded and offered 1st born male children for a chance to buy it on DVD here it is. This is available for the first 5 days as direct download then as hard copy DVD after that.
Wave 2 will shortly follow in a week or three, followed afterwards by Wave 3. Wave 2 has never been seen in its entirety and wave 3 has never been seen outside of my 'bunker'.
Go forth and buy so we can fund the Mudbox Hub and feed me some food for a change. (I record much better with a full stomach ;) ).

PS yes there will still be some free vids ;)

I would definetly buy it but the question is: will U ship it to Poland and at what cost? Couse downloaded stuff is good, but keeping it on the shelf along with other sounds better for me :)

Wayne,
Please check with 3d-palace. They sent me links to the five parts. However ALL 5 parts were links to part 1, repeated 5 times in the email. I emailed them to set it straight. Just wanted to give you a head's up because it could happen to others.

The hard copy will be available in about 4 or 5 days once we have the correct ammount in hand to ship for the 1st wave of predicted orders (that way there shouldn't be any delays).

Sorry about the earlier teething problems on sending out the links - its been fixed now and if anyone hasnt recieved their links they can email cris@3d-palace.com and get it resolved immediately. Most of the problems were down to my putting a full stop in the code in the wrong place so I will mark 30 days of penitence into my diary and get teh flagelation stick prepared. :-):)

i know this is a little early to ask this - but just while im thinking about it, when (in the future) all three waves are completed, will we be able to buy them as a set with a single paypal transaction (or even a cheque). Paypals been a pain for me in the past and Im not overly keen on using it unless i have to etc.

Yep thats the plan. Right now I'm tossing around with a totally remade wave 2 as the old wave 2 was recorded last year. Obviously I'll make it clear which one it is nearer the time.

I'd say that these vids attracted a great deal of people to the forum. Can't it be so that they are linked from the area to this forum. And that they will still be able to see for free here. This would generate members :)

There are very strict rules to what an admin on the area can do and what is linked to and promoting there own sites.

I've had a hell of a time so far getting this product. I got the download links but I could only open one of the archives. The others kept coming up as "damaged". I tried emailing 3D-Palace, but no one responded. I tried again using PayPal's Resolution Center and finally got a response and a promise to get a dvd copy, but when I asked a week later about the dvd, I got no response. 4 days later, still no response.
For the record, I also PMed Wayne with no response. Is Cris related to Wayne, and who is Anita Hodgson? Has anyone seen them all together in one place before? ;)

Send an email directly to me and I'll get it sorted. I can't say I've had any IM's that I can remember from you..were you using this user name? No Cris isn't related to me...just a very very weird coincidence..and anita is a partner of cris in 3d palace. Plenty of peolpe saw both Cris and myself at the end user event in holland a few weeks back..there are even some pics if you look around .
DVD's are not due to ship for another week as was always the plan, up till now only download copies have been available. Are you using the latest version of your extraction software? Thats the only reason I can think of why they would not extract (as lots of other people have had exactly the same file iterations and had no problems.) But as I say send me an email at wayne@dashdotslash.net and if you cannot no matter what get download versions working then we will get you the 2nd dvd copy off the presses in priority mail. (The 1st goes to my mum as always).

The download was in 5 rar archives. I could only open the first. The others kept coming up as "damaged". I used the most recent version of Stuffit Expander which, afaIk, is the best archive expander for rar archives. Perhaps a zip format would be a safer bet?
Aside from the technical difficulties here, the big problem has been the lack of communication. Had I gotten an email last week saying what you just said, that a have to just wait a tad longer for this dvd, this wouldn't be as bad. Of course having any of my earliest emails replied to instead of making have to go to PayPal's Resolution Center would have been nice, too.

None of those emails came to my desk, so you can sure I'll invetigate why. yes you shold have been told a date etc for the hard copy DVD and should not have to go to the paypal resolution center. Being blunt thats not good for business and not something I would under any circumstances want.
I would alway advise using the latest version of winrar for rar files. Other apps rarely are as up to date with the many tweaks they do to the compression alg. We use winrar mainly as it compresses far smaller and gives less problesm on extractio than the zip format.

I'm on a Mac, Chief. You know they make Mudbox for Mac now, right? ;)
Seriously, zip is more platform agnostic, although I've never had a problem with rar before, but I'm sure someone there tested to make sure it could be extracted by a Mac, right? I mean, no professional company would post an untested product, right? That wouldn't be a "less problems" kind of approach.
Anyway, thanks for the replies. Nice to know I'm not just yelling into the wind here.
