Hy there mudboxers!

I am new to this forum and let me first tell you how nice is to see Wayne put such effort with the mudbox tutorials and hub. Big thanx!

Now, i have my first questions:

1) I wanted to work on the texturing tools to get a hang of them, but i noticed that when i am projecting a texture on a face, the last line of pixels form the edge of the face are projected as well on the side faces, and what ever i try to do, and every angle i try to project from gives me the same problem. How can i avoid this. Is somehow an uv problem?

2) If i texture on the base model, and after that i subdivide, the uv don't smooth, or something strange happens, see the last image from above.

I somehow feel both have something to do with the uv. I made the base model in max, and gave it a basic flatten mapping from the unwrap. Here are the uvs:

My second guess would be that i did not model the mesh properly , and i am not sure how to model and prepare meshes for hard surface subdividing. I would appreciate some guidance in this direction.

Thanks a lot for the support!

Try painting the flat faces first, and then the angles as shown on the image.

I am projecting as perpendicular as i can to the face normals of the mesh. I am not projecting in an angle if that's what you ment. Can i isolate/select the faces i want to paint on?

Thanks for the fast reply!

A lot of it is down to feel and a soft touch..... try using a wide falloff and large brush size with a very light touch.
