View Full Version : Mudbox 09: Selecting faces problem
hi, new here....
Hope you can help me here; i have a little problem selecting faces.
I'm trying to apply the "topological axis", but when i select 2 faces in the middle i grabbed and all is ok, but when i rotate the camera i instantly add 3 more =S, even if i had a little brush, it keeps selecting more than 1 face that i didn't select. i tried to look for a 'distance' option, but can't find anything
Don't know if you understand me, but... here's some shots

Does that for me too. Is it just a display issue where it doesn't draw the area selected with certain graphics cards/ drivers or is it a general issue?
I've noticed other areas that painted vertex colours are involved are affected too, like painting masks and frozen areas. It's more obvious at lower resolutions.
Pressing Shift S will select the single face under the centre of the cursor, which works better than sizing the brush right down for me, but it still doesn't display correctly until I rotate the camera.
So there isn't a solution for this?
I heard, there are some Mudbox trial RC1, and RC2; how do i know i have the latest trial version? The 'about' don't tell which version i have. Maybe they have fixed this.
I have the latest drivers, a nvidia 9500gt, 3gb ram, tri-core; i mean i don't think it's my machine.
@RobinB, thanks for the tip but when i use tangent and applied your tip, well it keeps saying that i need to set up the topological axis, but i think i have set up already, because i can use it it works fine for sculpting.

I'm also on a 9500 (m in this case) so it could be a graphics card issue that we share with the display problem. I was wondering if other people had that?
If it sculpts with tangent mirroring, then I guess it's working.
I keep getting that topological axis warning whenever I hover over an object that I haven't set it up on, regardless of the fact I don't plan to sculpt on it. Kind of annoying.
Exactly, annoying. That's why I'm wondering which mudbox09 version i have; i read that there were fixes on the r2 version. I think i'm gonna try that, if that works i'll let you know.
Edit: now i have a camera trouble, i can't rotate to see the front of my model, just dolly and pan; i've check the option on the keyboard shortcuts, but still the same. Does anyone know how to reset the "entire" mudbox configuration preferences, and all?
Btw, i installed the R2 version, i think is more stable. But the 'faces' trouble still the same. =/

Yeah I forgot to mention that I was running Service Pack 2 already.
Well about the camera issue i think i found it, i delete the preferences folder, and voila!
But the other thing about faces, still the same..
damn...
