Hi everyone,
This is my first female model in Mudbox 2009. The hands and feets aren't finished yet, but let me know what you think.

Nice one, I would put more fat on her back so she doesn't look so anorexic. Especially around the shoulder blades. And the rib cage should probably be more like an upside down "U" instead of a upside down "V". That's all I could think of, maybe someone with a bit more anatomic knowledge can fill in.

You've made a good start, I'd say look at the back a bit more around the scapula and also the knee area needs a bit more refining. But so far its looking good.

Hey hi guys,
And thanks a lot for the advice, I'll definately bare in mind. Still try to figure out all brushes/tool of Mudbox. Any tips on how todo more natural and fuller muscle/body mass and the creases where different muscle meet?
Cheers

Good work so far.
Something strange is going on just above the knee. Looks like a stroke which shouldn't be there...
Foam brush with a smooth falloff, that's what I use for muscles anyway.

Hi everyone,
Been real busy with work so havent had much time to work on this models, but heres quick update anyway. Done few minor tweaks here and there, and I have totally redone the back. I may have soften the detail a bit too much(was going for a gentle look/feel). So I think may have to redefine certain areas again. After that I’ll start on the finer details and maybe get some clothes on her too. :)

Hi everyone
Heres a quick update on my model. Over the xmas break I finally got some time to do some more work on it. Did some tweaking here and there and I've have started to add the fine details to the skin surface. I am a bit unsure on the amount of fine detail I've added. Should I increase it or is it too much? Ive attach some renders, see what you guys think. Any feedback will be nice.
Thanks

Here's some renders of the textured model. Im still experimanting with the shader/material. If anyone has any helpful tips on doing good skin, I'll be very grateful.
Thanks

Think it needs to be a bit darker under the eyes. Or maybe my brains just compensating for lack of eye lashes. I dunno, but the shader settings are looking good.
Might want to set up an SSS for the eyes too though. I'm seeing a pretty sharp shadow cast down into the left eye.

I am really digging the new renders! The skin looks very soft and getting more realistic, seems that the specular is still too high. Keep up the great renders.

These are looking good. Nice progress. You've definitely encouraged me to learn more about SSS. Keep it up!

Thanks guys, here are some new renders with eyelashes and brow.
Does anyone know of any good tips on doing hair using 3DSMax Hair and Fur? Im have been trying to do the hair, but cant seem to get the right effect. I did come across HairFarm plugin on the net which looks good. It gives great controll over the hair unlike 3DSMax Hair and Fur. Unfortunatly it still in Beta at the moment and theres only have a pre-release demo which has a lot of feature blocked. :(
If anyone can help or know of good hair tutorials I'll be grateful.
Thanks

looks really good so far dude. i reckon the biggest problem though is that the skin is way too smooth and the spec/reflection needs tweaking to get rid of that waxy look.

First off, I'm a Maya guy so I have no idea about hair in Max. I was wondering how did you do your eyelashes? I saw a max tutorial on the AREA, but I wanted to look around before I committed myself to a process.

nice shaders and all :)
BUT you should look over the head shape. Try to adjust it to correct proportions, if you have trouble you could try Wayne's tutorial about this.
One thing that I spot right away is that you could lower the back of the head, as it looks a bit deformed.

Nice!! this is coming along great mate. !
renders are looking sweet.. she has a familiar face to me for some reason.. is it ment to be anyone in particular? or just outa your head?
She kinda does look like she has a Fat back of the head, but i guess it will look different once she gets some hair.
Keep up the great work.

Does anyone know of any good tips on doing hair using 3DSMax Hair and Fur? Im have been trying to do the hair, but cant seem to get the right effect.
1) Do you have the character re-topologized? If not, that's fine, but with hair and fur, I would create a selection of mesh that you would like the hair to grow from on the character, and clone that to a new object and make a hair cap. That will really speed up your calculations when working with the hair.
2)You may also want to export out your level 1 or 2 base mesh to act as a collision object for the hair. without one, styling is a bitch!
3) Check out these tutorials from Louis Marcoux:
http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/paint_hair_growth_areas_with_vertex_paint This one will help you feather the hair back on the edges of the hair cap naturally.
http://area.autodesk.com/tutorials/extract_vertex_color If you want to get real crazy with hair colors, this one will explain how you could possibly use vertex color to generate hair color with a hand painted pattern. Then you plug the vertex color maps into the root and tip color.
This is where I would start.
