you have turn user account control off or the plugin wont work.
it wont start max if user account control is onf.
but the fbx importer or the obj importer wont work.
what am I doing wrong?
this is what it says int he log.
EXPORTER- ready to start import
Call to KFbxImporter::Initialize() failed.
Error returned: Corrupted or invalid file.
EXPORTER- merging scene
EXPORTER- Materials Added
EXPORTER- Adding Geometries
EXPORTER- Deleting importer
EXPORTER- delete pImporter;
EXPORTER- pImporter = 0;
p.s also wayne, sorry i dont mean to nose around your code.
but i noticed you are using the $ variable.
i have had trouble in max in the past along with other people using this variable.
it does not update correctly.
using this instead ensures this will work everytime.
replace $ with
selection[1]
its the same thing.

Thanks you caught a rare Wayne mistake..I'd included the max scripts for my personal build and not the 'production' build (the difference is I can use more exotic paths in my pesonal build in case your wondering..along wiht a few extra app not yet added to the production build.)
Download MudWalker again from the plugin page and you'll see that all will work fine now (the old scrtipts used an old path that MudWalker no longer uses.)
Again usual cavats apply, make sure all your software used with MudWalker is up to date with service packs etc especially FBX. I'll be adding s uport thread with things users can check soon as I have 2 mins to call my own. Again thanks for catching that.... it was simple cock up due to lots of code changes in the last few days.
The selection [1] operator isnt any use for this mainly as it screws up with multiple objects thats why I had to use $ instead.

hey wayne if i rigg this character with bones.
can just update the mesh instead of overwriting it?
i know fbx might be capable of doing this cause of the way it works.

Hmmm..grey area to be honest..its not somthing I've tried yet with MudWalker but feel free to give it a test. Always use MudWalker on coipes of your max scene files where required.
The only trouble with the bones is that it has a knock on affect across MudWalkers supported applications list that all have tweaks and various doo dahs to make everything work and be the same scale etc... But for max it'd be perfeclty possible to create a script to do that I think.

Hello Wayne! Newbie to 3d here, loved your work on your web link and looking forward to trying the plugins.
Unfortunately, have a problem and really hope you may be able to help. Mudbox 32 on windows xp with nvidia etc, works. Mudbox 2011 64 on brand new laptop first wouldnt show shaders, ambient occlusion, just black sillouette of model. messed with filter view and only 3d look I could get was white and illuminated not easy to see like the default clay look. Uninstalled, checked drivers and settings, reinstalled (sp1 version this time) and it wont even load or start at all, (I did the licence transfer so not that) also memory problems and crashes occuring when trying to start it. Is it likely me, the new computer or is there something you can think of to help, I want to learn mudbox and get from 2d to 3d and love the idea of the stamps and stencil so would be great if you can help me, details on new laptop below, thanks and greetings from Australia!
