To be honest theres not a lot that CAN go wrong with ReLight, but if you come across anything post it here along with the log files from mudbox.
Also do not worry if you see alledgely humourous lines in your logs made by ReLight. These to be honest are a sort of internal code of mine so I know where in the code a screwup has hapened. (Plus its far more groovy way to debug than old error codes lol)
Please check:
1. You have the latest pactehs for your veriosn of after effects
2. That mudbox is the latest version
3. Thats you have that invention of satan himself UAC control turned off in windows vista
4. That you have read and inwardly digested the help files...
5. That you have installed After effects apps to default paths
Include your version number of After effect and path to the exe file along with any relevant info you feel I need to know.

I just installed relight. I have the menu on the top bar but the only option under it is " clean up temp files". Installed Mudwalker also and that works great! (thanks!)
Any ideas?

If after efects is installed to a non default path relight will not detect it and remove the menu option. Updated version are coming for both MudWalker and Relight to support nondefault paths soon.

Wayne,
Have you fixed just yet the relight path teething problem, that forces only the clean temp files option to be shown under the mudbox's relight menu ?
It's been so much time since you first released this wonderfull feature, and I still can't use it, as mudbox and AF is installed in a path that is not set as default (d:\... instead of c:\)
Is there a single attribute that would allow us to use the feature ?
Please help !
I am looking forward to receiving your reply.
Best Regards,
Tri Stratos

Here's ReLight version 2 64 bit.
You wil need to set the path to after effects in the config file that you will find in the c:program files\ autodesk\mudbox\ReLight\ folder.

a 32 bit version will follow, the only reason it wasn;t included in this dl was due to the 32 bit compiler having an off day and not having time to sort it out being this near to xmas.

Here's an untested compile of the 32 bit version of ReLight version 2.
Create the following file with the location of your after effects install in it as plain text:
c:\Program Files (x86) \Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt

Dear Wayne,
I installed the relight32 plugin you provided and now it seems that is showing correct its options under the ReLight V2 menu in mudbox.
Though, I tried to rcreate the text file you mention under
D:\Program Files\Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt
and have set its contents to
D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\
which is the installed directory of my AFX install folder.
Though executing the script, it doesn't open up the afx app at all!
It outputs the files correctly under C:\MudboxTemp, but no project file is created and doesn't open afx to load it up.
What am I doing wrong ?
Please specify so that I may use your wonderfull plugin right asap.
I hope the forthcoming versions of Relight and Mudwalker have those issues fixed and automated along with new magic from your casting spell!!
Best regards,
Tri Stratos

To give you an idea of the way to type it in here's what mine says:
C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Adobe After Effects CS4\\Support Files\\AfterFX.exe
although this should also work:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\AfterFX.exe
also be sure that you config is the the default mudbox location for relight (that'll change in an update but it will get things working for now for you.)

Dear Wayne,
This doesn't seem to be working.
It succesfully creats the temp files, but AfterFX doesn't load up.
I have created a config file, in mudbox's dir:
D:\Program Files\Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt
which now has the following info in it
D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\AfterFX.exe
but after executing the relight V2 script, from within mudbox, after effects doesn't load up itself.
It only reports:
The screen distance viewport filter is now active on this viewport
That's all and just hangs in there...
Please note that my apps are installed on D and not on C.
Is this what causes the error still?
Is there anythin that I am still doing wrong or there is something that needs to be fixed still?
Best regards,
Tri Stratos

I have created a config file, in mudbox's dir:
D:\Program Files\Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt
Do me a favour and change the above Config.txt file to:
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt
Yes I know mudbox isn't located there but it could be a bug in ReLight that is very easy to fix..... chances are its looking in the default mudbox installation path for the config file contsaining the location of after effects.

Wayne,
I did that.
In fact it seems that when I first installed relight, it did create such directry by itself.
In any case, after editing that location
C:\Program Files\Autodesk\Mudbox2010\ReLight\Config.txt
with
D:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe After Effects CS4\Support Files\AfterFX.exe
inside, guess what, it DID NOT work!!
It does exactly the same! Mudbox reports that about viewport and runs no afx at all!
Any idea ?
