Just thought I would try my hand at some hard surface stuff. Still need to finish the arm and leg armor.
Any comments and critiques would be really appreciated.

nice job! I would add a little more definition to the armor plates but other than that it looks great!

looks nice so far, I do find hard surface modeling to be very challenging so far, definitely worth taking the time ona project like this to hone your skills. keep us posted on updates.

Just some updates on my armor concept.
Still need to do some minor detailing, but for the most part the armor is complete.
Thanks everyone for all the positive feedback, it is always appreciated.

looking real good astole!... I think that the hard surfaced modeling would be a bit trickier to pull off in mud, but you are doing a great job of it... it will be good to see some paint on it too...
just curious... will this be a lowpoly model with high res/detail normal for a game engine
cheers

Thanks for the positive feedback.
I am planning on making it lowpoly with hi res maps so it would work in a game engine. I'll post some lowpoly renders once I finish it.
Here are some updates of the beginning of the armor painting along with some scratches and dents I added to it.
Again, comments and critiques are always welcome.

Thanks James.
I changed the color of the armor because I just couldn't get it to look the way I wanted it to.
Still have a lot of painting left to do but this is the basic color scheme with some details painted in.
Thanks for all the positive comments.

OMG, beautiful paint job! I like how that the armor fades or is wore off at the edges

very nice indeed... the color change looks good... but it's a little difficult to see as the images seem a bit dark, on my laptop anyways... maybe you could add a few lights or brighten things up a bit for the next updates... I brought the last front-view snapshot you posted into photoshop and used the auto colors on it and it's a lot easier to see
Looking forward to seeing more updates
cheers

Ok I think I am replying to this thread, if not I'm sorry.
My comment would be that the armor looks good from a far distance but it doesn't hold up up close. One thing that seems like an issue across the whole peice is that it looks sculpted rather that it being cloth with armor padding inserted or attached somehow. Go get some reference that seems to fit the look you are going for and work on those smaller details and forms.
Stitch marks, folds, buttons, part lines, wrinkles. finer design details are all missing from this piece.
Keep it up! lookin good so far.
