Only a ten second bookend, but used Mudbox to get solid (but swift) diffuse, displacement, normal and high level Ambient Occlusion maps to work with.

It was part of my grad piece for the VFX course at Escape Studios. They teach a bit of Zbrush on the course but having had a couple of months with Mud and the Quick Start tutorials I felt a lot more confident using it to get textures. I do need to brush up on Zbrush for my CV, it has great features, but Mud seems so much easier to get results from.
Cheers guys. Gonna be working on some showreel shots soon, look out for WIP, always value the input here.

AO pass with open EXR Mud displacements rendered with mental Ray in Maya. (If you're using this workflow remember to turn off "Feature Displacement" in the object's Shape node! This was a head banging RAM hole for me, in both MR and Renderman for Maya!)

Nice work with that "inlay", or whatever it's called.
