I have been using Mudbox to texture models made in Max for game. One thing I have run across is that when I use Mudwalker, objects on layers that I am not working on and are hidden are brought into Mudwalker. I am sure that is not unexpected. However, it would be very convenient if there is a setting in Mudwalker that you can check/uncheck that will only "grab" items in visible layers.

In my example, I will have a full-res model that I want to export. On another layer is an extremely low polygon phyics model. When I send the scene to Mudbox, I would prefer that the physics model does not get brought in. I hope that makes sense.

Also, I wanted to mention a quirk that seems to happen in Max when I use Mudwalker. As soon as I choose the Mudwalker option to send to FBX... everything in my scene disappears... and the only way to retrieve it in Max is to hit Undo. Ideas?

You can edit the max script that controls that in the mudwalker directory in your mudbox instalation folder and simply remove the delete line. Although this has been changed in the next version anyway.

The selection routines have been completely redone to be honest, although fbx itself has limatations that are subject to change with every update of the fbx plugin itself (thats an autodeks thing not a MudWalker thing BTW.) In the next verison you will be able to use partial selections of a model as well (so you could for example just sent a selection of faces over if you wished instead of the entire model.)

There's also selected texture layer export straight to photoshop in a single click coming as well as C4d siupport and a few other nice things I've not mentioned yet.
