Image plane

Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong.After setting a image as a background plane ,every thing works fine but i dont seam to be able to disable it and set it back to normal ie gradiant or blank.i have read diffrent ares and if i understand it correct there should be a refresh button that does this action, but i carnt seam to find it .
im using 2009sp1

Try this:
-in OBJECT LIST select the perspective camera(or the camera u applied the image plan to), there u should see image plan (when u open the thread of the camera) and if u click on the eye it turn on and off the imageplan.

at least this is the way i work with imageplans.
