Hi, I use mudbox 2009 on XP and as soon as i don't smoothshade my meshes some polygons turn black!?
Anyone knows why?

Its a known current bug thats being worked on. The reason Mud 1 hard shading code cannot be used is due to optimisation reasons. (There's been a lot of ..well...'crap' about how can it be possible for mud one to have it perfect and mud 2k9 not... Memory optimisations are essentail for mud and as a result what can seem a simple problem to fix can be actually far for it.

I found that when I use a simple blinn material in mudbox the black spots disappear. See if its the same for you?

Yeah the shade error isn't there then. Though I noticed one thing(!)
The shading of some parts is still goofy, some faces have a darker gray color than they should and stuff :o

Aight, thanks for the tip.
I actually think I've done that (?), now that I think of it.
It's very strange either way.
