Happy Birthday to the Mudbox Hub itself!
We are 1 year old today.
I said back he I started this place that I'd give it a year and see if it was worth keeping up. ..it is..and I will. I started MudboxHub as for about 2 yers many mudbox users wanted a dedicated forum like the old skymatter one just for mudbox, many didn't like the mudbox section on the area. No one seemed to want to take the initative to actually start one and as I had a spare vbulletin license (or rather cris for 3d palace had who lives just 1/2 mile away did), I thought 'what the hell' and started it up.
We've had our fair share of crazy stuff, and in the intial few months we had what seemed like a new hack attempt every other week! We gfot through that and kept growing. The QuickStart videos were added free to all, and eventually we released 2 dvd's 'Wave 1' and 'LIVE in Berlin'.
So whatever happend to 'Wave 2' that was recorded before this place opened and never saw the light of day (until a wek or two back when I added it to the on demand streaming service?) Thats a long story, suffice it to say a single person involved with the area (where I'm still an admin) did not take kindly to me starting this place and hence not upping videos as often to the area. As a result this person SAT ON the videos of wave 2 to this day and never released more than the 1st two parts covering the creation of the creature head...until recently that set of videos were never seen.
So in a year we've seen load of free videos, 2 plugins, an on demand streaming service and so far 2 dvd releases...not bad for a site some thought would fold in a month. ;) We are not done yet...we're only getting warmed up.
I've been waiting on creating exactly the right content for a 'wave 2 'dvd to follow on from wave 1 which was such a massive sucess. As we are 1 year old , something special may happen 'soon'...
We have an exciting year ahead of us as mudbox users, and no doubt a few challanges for the hub along the way. But we'll meet them as a community the way we always have..head on. There's some game changing stuff coming for us as mudbox users and although I cannot talkabout the next release..... lets ust say autodesk have not been sitting on their backsides. It will impress.
Without the Admins, Mods and more importantly the members this place could not still exist. thanks to you all.
Happy birthday to MudboxHub
