i just couldn't stop working on him. and the feedback i got from people is that his to "alien"
but to make him human wasnt realy the point anyway.
but because im a push over i work some more on him. here is the result. all done in mudbox.
PS: the line on the heads is a Tonemapper bug. i guess i could remove it if i did some more tweaking and sutch.

Wow, your really ripping them out hey.. lol
Personaly i liked the more alien version better of your cyborg head, than the more human one.. but they both look pretty good.., really like the green fella, kool concept, u should push it more to make him look really mean and scarey.. I'd hate to have that little critter come up n chomp on me oldmate.. wouldn't be a pretty site. lol
Good work bro.

i noticed it have the same hair style as the medic i did earlier. but instead of change it i tried to improve it, since this was a warmup anyways.

Nicely done Minimus! These are all fantastic speedsculpts! I really like the alien head. It's nice to see some videos of your process to! A valuable added bonus. About how long do these warmups take for you on average?
Minimus
03-24-2010, 11:36 AM
a warmup can take from 30-45 min. and if i really like it i might even play some more on it :P
Im still practicing and the workflow will be faster and faster with time. getting better to use hotkeys to :)
But im glad you like the work. thanks.

Hey, pretty kool little character ya got there.. i think tho a little too much smoke cause it kinda takes away from your character, but thats just me.. For a school project, its looking great, well done mate!
oh one thing i just noticed.. his left eye, at the bottom it seems to have a gap?? between his eyelid? or are my eyes playing tricks on me =)
Nice render!

no your right :) this is just a wip image of him.
so there is still things that needs to be done. the thing is 40% of the grade i will get is for presantation. so im making alot of WIP images to present on exam day :)
In the newest version i have fixt the gap between the eye and head that you noticed. also added more details like a hat and redone the bumpmap.
im on holyday vacation right now, so cant render anything on my laptop. when i get back home i upload the never version :)
btw, the smoke was mostly to hide the larger wip bugs hehe :P

I like the smoke, but Id color correct it to better fit the colors in your model and make a better compliment to it personally. great idea though to liven up a composition. :) I always say every 3d artist should learn a little about compositing.

Im so sorry for not coming back earlier. The class was trown right out to a new project right after the last one.
This time it was animation, and man!! animation takes TIME!! key here key there move that do that :P timing timing timing!
BUT NOW!!!!!! now im finished with year 1!!! starting on my second year this fall, but until then i got summer holiday ;)
I did a little "warmup" work if we can call it that, just to get back inn to mudbox again. Felt really good having that wacom in my hands again, doing some free sculpts :)
I didn't record this one. but i hope you guys enjoy the image. hopefully ill be posting more out this summer :)

hey thats really nice man!!, i like it.. its got a great feel to it.. tho i would do something a little more creative with the red stroke, either that or get rid of it.. great concept tho!
Minimus
06-18-2010, 12:01 PM
thanks. glad you liked it.
I can agree on the red stroke. it's not that creative, not original either :P
I could have made something more complex, like a tattoo over his eye. but that doesn't seem to be his character. so i might be best off with removing it, as you say.

Im kinda proud of this one so far. Im no drawer/paineter. unless its stick men.
Its a concept design for my new character im planing. this is not final result. More like a first outcast. would appreciate feedback on it :)

nice, i suck at concept painting myself. but looks cool. would love to see a nice render of the textured suit.
Question is it supposed to be a male or female, it looks like it has beasts but seems to muscular to be one. Also are the forearms supposed to be that short?

the areas i mentioned before. oh, and the hands seem way to big to me.

did a quick photoshop job on it. hope it is a female your going for

oh nice feedback. thanks.
I downloaded the cartoonman basemesh from mudbox community page. that might be the reason why it aint 100% anatomy. But that aint the goal either.
btw...dint you see the bulge on his pants ^^ hehe its a male. but why not do a girl. nothing is carvd in stone yet.

here is the template sculpt i did. my first idea. all just ruffs.
wanted an alien character in some kinda "flexible/training" suit.
i got a bit stuck on the design, i think he got to many "Human" features. need to try think outside the box :P

this have bin a really boring summer. work work work....and not funny work either. Working as a packer in a fridge storage for meat.....
But every thing has a upside. And i manage to so some work in my little spare time that i had.
Hope you like it, its still a wip that i will keep building a little after a little on.

dobbelpost. my images are prittey big and making em all under 100 will really baden the quality on the work, is it someway els to upload em to the side. i try "linking" em from other pages but that just makes them HUGE in the forum and thats no fun for the one to try navigate and watch it all :P

New consept? the feedback i have gotten so far is
That the consept maybe is a bit overkill and i maybe should keep the "less is more" rule.
annyway i share it with you and await your feedbacks.
The big image containst alot of ps painting that will be made 3d in the final work.
Already started on the water drops on the face.

Pretty cool but some things are off; the eyes look way too grilish as well as the iris which is immensly large...
Otherwise pretty neat with the wrinkles and how the skin folds :). Perhaps a bit too many chins... ;P
