Softimage port of my shader has been added thanks to Jens Lindgren

I've been working long and hard on this shader to ensure it was ready the day mudbox 2011 was released. This is the only shader that is out there that supports mudbox Vector Displacement. Period. It supports both 3d max and Maya (Softimge / XSI Support is pending and should be added soon) A verified working Mac Maya versionis also in the pipe ( a alpha buld that may or may not work is included in the maya rar file)

I'm putting this out through my new company 'Psycho Core Software' that eventually will contain all programs and plug-ins I have wrote. For more information see the link above.

Pass the word around as vector displacment in mental ray is going to be a minor revolutio judging on reactions so far to this shader. ;)

It supports any mental ray supported material in Maya or 3D Max.

Nice work Wayne. I've definately been spreading the word among my group about vector displacement and this is just the cherry on the top. One thing that would have been nice to see in the demo video would be the actual mesh wireframe as it displaces, like you did in the displacement video for the elite members.

Anyway, very nice work. I was really suprised by the speed of it. I've pretty much flat out stopped using displacements because it just bogged my computer down completely on render (only running a dual core w/4 gigs or ram) and I think with this I might get some nice demonstration renders with my mudbox concept work. Thanks again for the fantastic work Wayne.

No problem..... do a wire view and you'll see it obeys the same rules, just in a different way. (ie in 3 dimensions so instead of a single 3 vector coordinate you have 3 sets of 3 vector in 32 bit floati point color space to deal with in the code lol.)

Softimage port of the shader has been added thanks to Jens Lindgren. It has been tested in softimage 2010 64 bit.

32 bit versions upped for Maya and Max (tested back to 2010 versions)

Also I've upped a sample test model and maps.

I waited a while for my MudboxHub verification just to tell you THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for this shader! I had a school project due and my normal maps weren't working. I downloaded the trial Mudbox 2011 hoping it would fix the problem. I saw the vector displacement map in Mudbox and after doing a little research came across your shader. It worked perfectly!

Thanks again for this. I am now in the process of sculpting a new model so I can use this on a simple poly shape. Something similar to your demo video (before my Mud 2011 trial runs out)

Oh yeah, I told my teachers about it and even installed the shader on a school computer. (Hope that's ok)

Ey man!

Awesome that you have the shader up and running! You are now up on 3dtotal's headline section http://www.forums.3dtotal.com/showthread.php?t=75999

Cheerios!
